Soldiers to compete in the 2018 Olympic Winter Games

On Friday, Team USA will march into a stadium in PyeongChang, South Korea in front of the world for the 2018 Winter Olympics. In that group of athletes, seven of them are members of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program.

Here is a list of the military athletes who will be competing in this year’s games:

Bobsled Team

Nick Cunningham is a sergeant in the New York National Guard with the 1156th Engineer Company Vertical. His hometown is Monterey, California.

Chris Fogt is a major in military intelligence with the U.S. Army. His hometown is Alpine, Utah.

Justin Olsen is a sergeant in the New York National Guard. His hometown is San Antonio, Texas.

Nathan Weber is a sergeant first class and Green Beret in the U.S. Army. His hometown is Pueblo West, Colorado.

Luge Team

Taylor Morris is a sergeant and U.S. Army human resources specialist. His hometown is Salt Lake City, Utah.

Matt Mortensen is a sergeant and U.S. Army interior electrician. His hometown is Huntington Station, New York.

Emily Sweeney is a sergeant in the New York Army National Guard. Her hometown is Suffield, Connecticut.
