Softball fans, and anyone who loves a good inter-service rivalry, can expect fireworks this Friday for the championship game of the All-Star Armed Services Classic.

Co-ed softball teams from the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force will face off at 7:00 PM Friday, July 13, 2018, in what will be the first major ballpark event of the 2018 MLB All-Star Week at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

The event is presented by T-Mobile and open to the public. So, if you’re looking for something particularly American Friday night, and happen to be in the nation’s capital, you can make your way down to Nats stadium for the free event.

Not in the District? No problem as the game will be livestreamed on MLB.com, and according to the website, viewers can expect “special government and military dignitaries” in attendance.

The tournament is made up of teams of active duty service members from each of the five military branches, with the Army and Air Force rising above the field to compete for the championship.

One lucky service member will also have the chance to hit a Home Run alongside Major Leaguers. Following the game, one pre-selected member of each of the branches will take part in a Home Run contest at Nationals Park. That winner will step up to home plate on Monday, July 16th for the Home Run Derby for the once-in-a-lifetime event.

The Nationals and MLB previously announced the 2018 All-Star Legacy initiative that includes a renovation project for the USO-Metro Depot at Fort Belvoir, Va, a U.S. Army installation.
