In 2013, there were a million unfilled cybersecurity positions around the world. That number is expected to rise to 3.5 million by 2021, according to Cybersecurity Ventures.

It’s no secret that tech jobs, like cybersecurity, will remain one of the most sought after careers in the years to come, but what’s less clear is how veterans can get into this growing career field.

Engility, a major cybersecurity firm, has partnered with the non-profit Center for Cyber Safety and Education to announce this year’s CyberWarrior Scholarship, just for veterans.

"The overwhelming response we received after we announced the program last fall validates our belief that veterans and cybersecurity are a natural fit," said Lynn Dugle, Engility CEO.

"Through these scholarships, we're not only providing veterans with a viable option as they reenter the workforce but also putting them on the fast track to one of the most in-demand professions in the world."

Last year, Engility and the Center launched a scholarship program to give veterans career opportunities in cybersecurity.

To qualify, veterans must have an honorable discharge from any of the five military branches by July 13, 2018, or currently serve in the National Guard/Reserves. The scholarships will fund everything from classes, to textbooks, to study materials.

Each of the four scholarship recipients will be receive one exam voucher for a CISSP, CSSLP, HCISSP, SSCP or CAP cybersecurity certification.

After the training, the vets can land some lucrative, highly-sought after jobs such as security analyst, security engineer, security auditor and security analyst, to name a few.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with Engility again to provide this deserving group the means to apply their unique skills to cybersecurity,” said Patrick Craven, director of the Center for Cyber Safety and Education.
