Mid-summer employment figures show veteran hiring strong

But youngest vets and military spouses still lag behind in finding jobs

Mirroring the employment picture across the U. S., the hiring of military veterans remains strong.  As we have been doing for several months now, CBS Eye on Veterans checked in with Nick Armstrong, Rosy Maury and Beth Kubala of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University -- to review recent Bureau of Labor Statistics breakouts of veteran employment. Veterans 24 years old and younger continue to have more difficulty than older vets when it comes to finding work.  The IVMF team discussed why that might be the case -- and offered suggestions of programs helpful to veteran job hunts. In addition, they talked about their research into the particular job-finding challenges military spouses face -- as, every few years, they move from one duty station to another:
