You know, I've had a few people ask me lately, "Hey, Jake, you smart, charming, devilishly handsome man you, why are there no gaming stories in the Gaming, Guns, & Gear section?"

First off you should know that flattery will get you... well, pretty much everywhere with me. My self-esteem is kinda low. But more importantly, you're right! It's high time we take a look at the first "G" in GG&G! So, let's find out what's going on in the world of gaming this week!

Playstation 4 offers free games

If you're a member of Sony's online subscription service for the PS4, then you know that every month they offer a few free games to keep you coming back. Well, this week it's big news, because one of those free games is quite possibly the PS4's best. That's right, FromSoftware's infamous Bloodborne is now free for the month of March. If you, don't know, Bloodborne is the fourth entry in the "Soulsborne" series, along with Demon's Souls, and Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3. Famed for it's unforgiving difficulty, the PS4 exclusive tells the story of the plague-riddled city of Yarnham. Men-turned-beasts roam the streets, vile abominations hunger for your flesh and other-wordly creatures beyond human imagination all play a role a this western-style RPG that is heavily inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft.

You play as a beast hunter trying to survive, while also unraveling the mysteries of the Healing Church. It's easily one of my favorite games of all time and it's free this month! It's primarily a single-player experience, but you can summon hunters from other games into yours to help you navigate the maze-like areas and beat tough bosses... or invade someone else's game, and watch the hunter become the hunted. The game has been out for a few years now, but according to Gamespot, coinciding with this release, the Soulsborne community is organizing a "Return to Yarnham" event to welcome new players, so you have no excuse. If you are a PS4 gamer, pick this one up. Also offered for free this month is the new Ratchet & Clank reboot.

Playstation 4 offers cheap games

It's not just free games coming to the PS4! This month sees multiple games on the cheap for the console. Firstly, the venerated Call of Duty series is going on sale. CoD: WWII digital deluxe edition is on sale for only $75, when it's normally $90. Also, Modern Warfare Remastered is on sale, as well as Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare. This month also sees big price drops form Square Enix. The Final Fantasy fighting game Dissidia Final Fantasy NT and retro RPG Lost Sphear. Also, several old classic remasters are on sale, like Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.

Diablo III for console scrubs

The wildly popular Diablo series has long been a game largely owned by the "PC Master Race," but Nintendo aims to open it up for a new market. As reported by Eurogamer last month, Blizzard Entertainment teased fans of the series by hinting that Diablo III would be appearing on the Nintendo Switch. They later backtracked on the issue. However, according to a new announcement by Nintendo, they are, in fact, planning on porting the game to the Switch. No further details have been released, so we'll have to wait for an official announcement when the project is further along.

New games on the horizon

It's a new month, and that means new releases! There are several highly anticipated games coming out this month. Ubisoft's Far Cry 5 is set for release on the 27th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In it, players will face off with a crazed religious cult called Eden's Gate, and vie for control of Hope County, Montana. Like previous entires in the series, the game is massively open-world action game, leaving it to you to decide when, where, and how you carry out objectives. Oh, and you can team with a diabetic murder bear named Cheeseburger. Need I say more?

The long-awaited sequel to the PlayStation 2's beloved JRPG Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, will be playable on March 23rd on the PS4 and PC. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom follows the story of Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum, the "deposed boy-king of Ding Dong Dell who sets off to found his own kingdom." Um... I understood some of the words in that sentence, yes, sir!

One of Nintendo's oldest mascots is set for a comeback as Kirby Star Allies releases on March 16th for the Switch. The lovable pink fluff ball will set out against a dark new force threatening the kingdom in this side-scrolling platformer.

That's it for now! Keep an eye out for more gaming updates, Let's Play's, and other things relating to the world of video games!
