Our Employer of the Week series features one company each week that has made a commitment to hiring and supporting veterans. This week’s employer is Wells Fargo.

Wells Fargo is a diverse, community-based financial services company with $1.9 trillion in assets. The company’s vision is to satisfy customer financial needs, and it has been working to do so since 1852. They offer banking, investments, mortgage and consumer and commercial finance services.

Wells Fargo is a 2018 Military Friendly Gold Employer meaning they exceeded benchmark standards in all six of Military Friendly’s categories of assessment: Hiring & Onboarding, Opportunity & Advancement, Culture & Commitment, Support & Retention, Policies & Compliance and Recruiting & Sourcing. This is just one of the various awards and recognitions Wells Fargo has earned since the beginning of its Military & Veteran Affairs program in 2012.

The manager of Wells Fargo’s Military Affairs Program is Jerry Quinn, an active duty Army reservist with five deployments.

“Wells Fargo has a longstanding commitment to hiring and retaining veterans,” said Quinn. “We value the qualities and attributes they bring to the workforce — service, purpose, teamwork, dedication, hard work and leadership.”

Wells Fargo currently employs 8,300 veterans and hopes to grow that number to 20,000 by 2020. The tools and programs available to veterans, active duty military and families include the Hiring Our Heroes Resume Engine, the Veteran Startup Pitch Program, Military Property Care, Warriors to Summits, the Veterans’ Team Member Network and the Veteran Employment Transition (VET) Program. VET Program is an eight-week internship program where veterans gain on-the-job experience, professional support from a Wells Fargo mentor, leadership insights and networking opportunities.

In addition to employing veterans, Wells Fargo supports the military community through donations and family programs. The company has donated more than 350 homes valued at over $55 million to veterans in all 50 states. In 2013, Wells Fargo launched Hands on Banking for Military, a financial education program with over 440,000 participants. Overall, Wells Fargo has donated more than $100 million to military and veteran nonprofits since 2012.
