For Women’s History Month, ConnectingVets producer Caitlin Kenney spoke with Lory Manning, retired Navy captain and Director of Government Relations with the Service Women’s Action Network, about 11 military women who should not be forgotten to history.

In this episode we discussed:

  • A woman who disguised herself in order to serve
  • A US Army nurse who was a Prisoner of War during World War II
  • A US Army National Guard sergeant who received the Silver Star for her actions during Operation Iraqi Freedom
  • And the first African American woman to command a Navy ship

In collaboration with the Service Women’s Action Network, we are featuring an inspiring woman veteran each month. Check out our last featured veteran: U.S. Air Force veteran Cat Corchado.
