Buying a home is not only a financial investment but an ’emotional investment’ as well, says Bev Thorne, chief marketing officer for Freedom Mortgage.

“Being in a home is having that breakfast table to sit around, when it’s a rainy day and you’re playing games with the family, when you’re building those type of memories … so it’s a huge emotional investment,” Thorne said in a recent interview with CBS Radio’s ConnectingVets.com.

And for veterans, owning a home for the first time after multiple deployments and tours around the world is a significant emotional investment.

“It’s such a difference when those veterans can be in those homes they can call their own versus it being in a transient location they are renting and they will depart from.”

Thorne said in order to help ease the transition into civilian life, Freedom Mortgage has specialized loan agents that only service veterans.

“We have a number dedicated just for veterans and at the end of that line, we have people who serve veterans 100% of the time … so they are very well versed in some of the challenges and some of the characteristics of these loans,” Thorne said.
