An F-16 fighter jet caught fire while attempting to take-off from a Houston airport

An F-16 Fighting Falcon crashed on take-off from Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, according to a statement from NORAD.

The pilot of the F-16 ejected safely and is being evaluated at a local Houston medical facility.

The aircraft, a detachment with the 138th Fighter Wing, was conducting a training flight under the direction of NORAD.
